Encouraging Kids to be Conscious and Deliberate in the Online World

At Like Me Project, we help kids to understand the implications of their online actions and develop skills to engage in ways that serve them best. This education fosters healthier online communities filled with support and empathy. By promoting responsible social media use, we empower children to use it as a tool for growth and community building while safeguarding against its risks.

Why we exist

Social media serves as a digital playground to today’s young people, and can offer benefits like self-expression, connection, and information access. However, it also presents challenges that require careful navigation.

Like Me Project aims to equip young people with the knowledge and tools to use social media with consciousness, safety, and agency. We present evidence-based, engaging, thought-provoking workshops and talks to help young people navigate the murky and complicated waters of social media and technology use.

Registered Psychologist and Founder

Hello, I’m Rachel! I am a child psychologist with a life-long passion for helping young people thrive.

Ever since the ‘like button’ was launched back in 2009, I have thrown myself head-first into monitoring how rapidly social media engineering is evolving, and disrupting the impacts of this. Education and awareness are key to this disruption, which led me to launch the Like Me Project.

A bit about my journey: I hold a First Class Honours degree and a Masters degree in psychology, I have conducted, presented, and published peer-reviewed research on social media use, and taught cyberpsychology at a university level. Most importantly, I have had the privilege of working with young people for over a decade in a variety of settings, gaining experience working as a School Psychologist, as well as roles within private practices and not-for profit organisations.

I aim to integrate all my knowledge and experience into engaging, relatable discussions with young people, and to equip them with the right knowledge and tools to help them make informed, conscious, safe decisions on how they want to interact with technology.
